The body has a pH balance that determines the amount of acid and alkalinity present in the system. A very acid food may not necessarily be deadly, but it can cause several symptoms. Examples of these include low levels of energy, fatigue, irritability, headaches, recurrent infections and dry skin. Eating foods that are high in acid can exacerbate these symptoms. Vegetables
Corn, lentils, squash and olives are all vegetables with a high acid content. Although these vegetables also have fiber and other nutrients, they are not a good option for you if you are trying to reduce acid levels in your body.

Fruits
Currants, blackberries, blueberries, canned fruits and glazed fruits are examples of acid fruits. Canned and glazed versions are acidic because they contain added sweeteners and preservatives. Processed fruit juices are also high in acidity.

Grain
The processed grains and the pastry or bakery products made with them are high in acidity. Some examples include white bread, white rice, pasta, cookies, donuts, donuts, cakes and crackers. These products are also low in fiber and in nutrients.

Dairy products

Other drinks with a high acid content include soft drinks, coffee, black tea and cocoa.
